At Saircare, SIL is a long-term, relationship-based model. We are intentionally selective because we believe a home should be built around the right people — not filled quickly.

We take time to get to know participants through our respite, programs, and community access services before considering a SIL match. This allows our team to grow alongside each person, understand their routines and communication needs, and ensure that any future home is a genuine long-term fit.

Families are encouraged to keep us in mind early, even years before SIL is needed, so we can build trust and consistency over time.

What To Expect

Our SIL homes vary in size and structure — but all share the same heart.

Each home offers:

→ 24/7 support staff

→ Personalised daily routines

→ Shared or private rooms

→ Involvement in cooking, cleaning, and planning

→ Emotional support and consistent communication

→ Community access and life skill development

Because we work with participants over time, our SIL homes are created with the people who will live in them. We don’t keep houses ‘ready to go’; instead, once we know we’re the right long-term fit, we support families to secure the right home and build the environment together. This ensures compatibility, safety, and a genuine sense of belonging from day one.

Why Families Love This Program

Moving out doesn’t mean doing it alone. Our SIL model is built on safety, dignity, and genuine partnership. Why it works:

Every participant is supported to make their space their own, have a say in their day, and build a life that reflects their goals and preferences.

Our selective matching process means every home is carefully planned. We take the time to understand personalities, routines, and natural friendships — often formed through our programs — to create a household that feels calm, safe, and sustainable long-term. Families value that we place quality and compatibility above filling spaces quickly.

What families are saying

“Love Saircare. Have found you all passionate and caring and have never doubted Oscar’s care with any of your support workers. He has loved every program and activity and every carer he has met through your service.”
